Misc Notes

  • Having some sense of a community would be nice. A lot of people find value in reading other people's tasting notes and want to know what others are drinking. Honestly, I'm not into things like Facebook, but maybe a wine-centric social site would work.
  • Should there be forums? Seriously, the wine forums (eBob, VC, etc) seem to have a large contingent of self-important assholes who only want to prove how big their wallet is by showing off what wines they just drank and how you're clearly a neanderthal for liking something different. And not to mention the near-god like status given to certain members of the "community" because they're in the wine business. You've even got people suing each other over stupid he said/she said crap. Even BARF members are better behaved. I can't imagine why I would want to create another forum for these people. *sigh*
  • On the other side of the forums issue, I'm sure there's a lot of people like me who just enjoy wine and would like a friendly place devoid of the politics that surrounds any issue once significant amounts of money are involved. Cultivating that kind of environment would be a lot of work and I'm not sure I'm sufficiently motivated.
